Farming is a game mechanic in My Time at Sandrock that allows the player to grow crops in their Workshop and then use the products for crafting and cooking.
Farming becomes available after the player receives the recipe for crafting a Basic Planting Kit from Zeke during The Grass is Greener. Using the planting kit in the workshop allows the player to access the farming interface.
Basics[]
Using the planting kit in the workshop for the first enables the planting mode. The player can enter the planting mode again anytime even if they remove the planting kit from their inventory.
In the planting mode, the player has the following options available:

Create Straw Grid | Creates a Straw Grid on the selected square to prepare the soil for planting. Each square of straw grind requires 1 Straw. Straw can be purchased at Water World or Farm Store. The straw grid persists until the seed planted in its square is uprooted or harvested. |

Plant seeds | The player can choose any seed from their inventory to plant it into the prepared soil. Note that some seeds require 2x2 or 3x3 square area to grow. |
