Quarrying is mining minerals, deposits, nodes, scraps, and other solid materials to gather resources. The pickhammer is the primary tool for quarrying; stronger pickhammers can smash tougher objects.

Scattered throughout Sandrock are scraps, which are piles of junk that can be recycled into useful materials. Scraps come in different types: wood, stone, copper, mechanical, and rubber.

When quarrying in the Abandoned Ruins, ore deposits are painted across the ruins, providing different types of raw ores that can be refined. Ore nodes are also common within the ruins and can be quarried for materials.
